The Women's & Gender Studies presents the first academic talk of the year-long Articulating Abortion series. To begin, Professor Bertha Manninen will be joining us to defend a pro-choice perspective using both utilitarian and Kantian considerations. Additionally, she will also argue that there are some pro-life concerns that pro-choice advocates should take seriously, and she hopes such conversation can pave the way for some type of convergence between the two sides.
Bertha Alvarez Manninen is a professor of philosophy at Arizona State University. Her main areas of research and teaching include bioethics, applied ethics, philosophy of religion, philosophy and film, and social/political philosophy.
We thank MIT Philosophy for cosponsoring this talk.
This event will take place in room 4-163 at 4 PM on September 20, 2022. Q+A to follow. All are welcome..
